Free MySQL hosting

Having searched for a remote-access MySQL host for a while, it came as a bit of a surprise that the only MySQL v5 database host I could find that looked credible was a free one. Freesql.org offers one free database per user and hosts > 10.000 databases on one server. The speed seems all right for a shared server. But of course the service comes with a very clear disclaimer: “Don’t use our service for mission critical data. We may delete all your data..”

You create your database instantly using a simple form on the webpage. And connect using a MySQL frontend with:

Remote access from Windows using the ODBC connector
